International dance competition "Attitude Ballet Competition"
10 - 11 June 2023
Attitude Ballet Competition - Seventh Edition, is an international dance competition organized by the cultural association “Reverence” and the National College of Art “George Apostu” Bacău, Romania.
The event is promoting young talents in the field of choreography, educates students that wish to perform in Art and is promoting choreographic language in the cultural space of Bacău, in Moldova, Romania.
RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE COMPETITION
Attitude Ballet Competition Bacău 2023 is open to students from public or private vocational and nonvocational schools (private schools, clubs, cultural associations, etc. who are studying dance for 2, 3 hours per week).
I. Participation categories
The competition is aimed at young people from Romania and abroad and will be divided in the following categories, based on the participants age and level of education:
Aspirant category
– This category accepts students from public or private schools aged 6 to 9 years.
Aspirant Mini 1: aged 6 to 7 years
Aspirant Mini 2: aged 8 to 9 years
Preparatory category
– This category accepts students from public or private vocational and nonvocational schools, aged 10 to 13 years
Vocational Children 1: 10 to 11 years Nonvocational Children 1: 10 to 11 years
Vocational Children 2: 12 to 13 years Nonvocational Children 2: 12 to 13 years
Pre professional category
- This category accepts students from public or private vocational and nonvocational schools, aged 14 to 17 years
Vocational Juniors 1: 14 to 15 years Nonvocational Juniors 1: 14 to 15 years
Vocational Juniors 2: 16 to 17 years Nonvocational Juniors 2: 16 to 17 years
Professional category
- This category accepts dancers aged 18 to 21 years
Seniors 1: 18 to 19 years
Seniors 2: 20 to 21 years
The cut-off date for registering in the age groups is 01.06.2023.
For assemblies with participants of different ages, the average age of competitors will determine the participation category.
We reserve the right to request proof of the dancers age on the competition day by requesting the identity card/ passport of the participants.
II. Competition sections
Individual Section: 1 Dancer
Ensemble Section:
Pas de deux/Duo/Trio – 2 - 3 Dancers
Group - 4 to 8 dancers
Formation - 9 to 24 dancers
The category of an ensemble (Mini, Children, Juniors or Seniors) is determined by the average age of the ensemble members.

- Classical Dance
- Modern/Contemporary Dance
- Character Dance
- Romanian Folk Dance
- Jazz/ Show-revue
- Lyrical /Musical theater/Productions
The participants who wish to participate in more than one dance discipline or repeatedly in the same discipline, will complete separate application forms and will pay the donation related to each entry.
Multiple entries of the same dancer in various categories and disciplines are allowed in the competition.
Competitors will enter the contest as representatives of one of the category vocational or nonvocational.
In the individual section only the highest-scored choreography will count.
IV. Time Limits
Individual Category: max. 3 minutes
Ensemble Category: max. 5 minutes
Exception: Ensemble Category – Pas de deux, Section Jazz/Show-revue, Musical theater/Productions - max. 12 minutes.
V. Repertory
The participants will perform a dance of choice, depending on the level of knowledge of the student / students.
The participants in both category, vocational/nonvocational, can address both individual repertoire and ensemble works according to the disciplines of the competition.
The choreography of the dance may be made by a professor or renowned authors. This will be specified in the application form.
Within the junior and seniors vocational category - the classical dance discipline, the classical choreographies and the evolution of the competitors en pointe are mandatory.
For the female dancers under the age of 12 years to use pointe shoes is not recommended.
VI. Music
Participants will provide their musical accompaniment in optimum printing conditions, unique to each performance and with information about the entry on the stage (P / M).
The title of the musical accompaniment will have the following format:
Discipline_Section_Name_Dance_P or M for the individual section or
Discipline_Section_School_Dance_P or M for the Ensemble category
Warning: the name will not contain special symbols or spaces.

The music in mp3 format and the (P/M) will be uploaded on the internet site of the competition: www.attitudeballetfestival.ro until 31.05.2023.
In the interest of safety while performing on stage, each competitor/professor should bring the MP3 music on an electronic support such as Memory Stick. This can be handed over to the authorized person of the organizer or directly to the technical staff at least one hour before the competition starts.
The order of participation will be sorted alphabetically, according to the competition schedule which will be announced in due course.
VII. Scoring system
The evaluation of the participants will be made by the following criteria:
choreographic text quality;
technical interpretation;
artistic interpretation (musicality, timing, expressiveness);
artistic impression;
The jury will consist of specialist teachers in secondary and higher artistic education, dance personalities.
Judging will be done for each category of participation and section, on the 6 disciplines: Classical Dance, Modern/Contemporary Dance, Character Dance, Romanian folk Dance, Jazz/Show-revue, Musical Theater/Productions.
In the individual dance section, the judging will be done separately for female and male dancers.
If participating several times in the same dance discipline, only the highest-scored choreography will be awarded.
If the performance conditions are not met, the jury reserves the right not to award some prizes.
The decisions of the jury are final and are not subject to appeal.
VIII. Awards
The competitors will receive: participation certificates, mentions, awards and trophies, free participation in future editions, specialized internships in the country and abroad.
IX. Conditions of participation
The application form will be completed on-line on the festival's web page:

In order to be eligible to sign up, the competitors or his representatives will first create a user account after which they will be able to enter one or more numbers in the contest.
For each contest number a separate form will be filled in.
The participant who wish to perform in several categories or repeatedly in the same category, will complete separate application form and will pay the fees related to each entry.
Additionally, the competitors should upload the following information
music (mp3) - named in the format explained in Chapter VI;
proof of payment of registration fee, în .jpg or .pdf format (the name of the file should include the name of the competitor / ensemble or, in the case of single payment, the name of the dance school).
The deadline for completing the form and uploading the requested information is: 31.05.2023.
Association "Reverence" as organizer and financial supporter of the festival ask the participants to donate the following minimum amounts necessary to organize the event:
Individual Section: 30 Euro or 150 lei / Dance
Ensemble Category: Duo/Trio – 20 Euro or 100 lei /Dancer/Dance
Ensemble Category: Group / Formation - 12 Euro or 60 lei /Dancer/Dance

Bank transfer fees will be charged to competitors and will not be covered by the donations amount for the competition.
Following information will be specified on the payment order:
Name and surname of the competitor, name of the dance and school - for the individual section
Name and surname of the competitors, name of the dance and school - for the ensemble duo section
Name of the ensemble, name of the dance and school - for the ensemble trio, group, formation section.
Schools can make a single payment for all their own participants.
Competitors taking part in multiple sections can make payments via a single payment order that includes the donations for all their dances.
Deadline for transfer of donation for the competition is 31.05.2023.
There is no refund of payments for cancellations.
X. Competition conduct
The contest schedule will be announced in due time, after registration deadline. Any discrepancies will be solved through direct communication with the organizer.
The teachers / instructors will be able to accompany the contestants on stage during rehearsals, location, competition, although they are not allowed to participate with them in the competition.
Inappropriate behavior, lack of fair play, on stage or auditorium result in disqualification of the contestants.
Teachers, trainers, spectators, may be removed from the hall for misbehavior, bringing misconduct penalties to the contestant / contestants it represents.
During the competition it is forbidden to consume alcoholic beverages, chewing gum, in the hall, on stage and backstage.
The vulgar movements, lewd fashion, music with inappropriate text, challenging and instigating messages, improperly for an artistic act are prohibited.
For the well-being of competitors, the organizers will provide professional conditions: stage, stage carpet, sound, changing rooms, stage rehearsals.
The organizers will not be held responsible for any injury during the competition.
The results of the contest will be posted on the Attitude Ballet Festival (https://www.attitudeballetfestival.ro).
XI. Image Usage Agreement
The organizers reserve the right to professionally photograph and film the evolution in the contest and to use the photos and films to promote the present event and future events.
By signing up for the contest, you agree to shooting and recording of your image and use of those in all actions related to "Attitude Ballet Festival" and declare that you have no and will have no claim to these appearances.
XII. Consent regarding the processing of personal data
By signing up for the competition you agree to the processing of your personal data by the Reverence association. Consent refers to all the processing of your personal data by that operator, such as, but not limited to, collecting, registering, organizing, structuring, storing, adapting or modifying, extracting, consulting, using and so on of that personal data.
The purposes for which personal data may be used are those relating to the organization and conduct of the Attitude Ballet Festival and related activities.

XIII. Workshops
During the Attitude Ballet Festival Bacău 2023, workshops for classical and contemporary dance will be organized. The workshops will be held by the members of the jury or other special guests.
